Dr. Rafia Mumtaz
Dr. Rafia Mumtaz is a distinguished academic and researcher in the field of Software Engineering, currently serving as a Professor and Associate Dean at the School of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science (SEECS), National University of Sciences and Technology (NUST), Islamabad. She earned her Ph.D. in Remote Sensing and Satellite Image Processing from the University of Surrey, UK, in 2010.

Her research interests encompass IoT, machine learning, computer vision, and environmental monitoring. Dr. Mumtaz has published over 75 research papers and has been recognized with numerous awards, including the HEC Best University Teacher Award (2022), Women of Wonders Award (2021), and NUST SEECS Best Researcher Award (2018).

As the founder of the NUST-Coventry Internet of Things Lab, the first of its kind at NUST, she has secured research grants exceeding PKR 170 million. Her work has led to patents and impactful solutions in precision agriculture and smart urban planning.

Dr. Mumtaz is a senior member of IEEE and collaborates with international research groups. Her dedication to mentoring students and advancing engineering education underscores her commitment to technological innovation and academic excellence in Pakistan.
